TIP ... it's humbling and exciting

TIP ... it's humbling and exciting

Doretta shares her
memorable TIP moment

Since its inception 30 years ago TIP has funded ideas from all its categories:

  • General curriculm
  • Diversity
  • Sustainability
  • Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander cultures

Entries have been received from kindergartens, primary and high schools from both government and independent sectors.

I had the privilege of presenting to Canterbury Norwood Baptist Kindergarten their certificate for their submission under General Curriculum – language development for 3 to 4-year-old kindergarten students.

They requested iPads so that the students could be exposed to new and different languages as well as some technology.

This application created awareness in the children of how various objects and phrases have different sounds but the same meaning in another language. It also exposed them to different cultures which in turn creates curiosity, tolerance, respect and understanding.

It is both exciting and humbling to see the positive and profound impact we are having in our core market segments at so many levels.

There’s more to a TIP grant than a handshake and a cheque. Our people have strong relationships within the education sector and, on school visits, see the benefit of TIP funding for grassroots school projects.
