Putting Swan Hill on the TIP map

Shane shares his
memorable TIP moment

One of the most rewarding parts of my role in Business Development is when I get to present a TIP award to one of my schools.

It’s even more memorable when I get asked to do so at a school assembly because it provides a great insight into how the use of these funds reach the intended beneficiaries, the students.

One of our many Members at the school had applied for a TIP grant to assist with completion of a Sensory Playground for the primary school students. This also involved the VET program at the school where the Year 11 and 12 students, with the assistance of Swan Hill Men's Shed, built equipment using recycled and upcycled items.

During construction, some of these students were further inspired by their new-found skills and decided to put them to use and start a small sideline business.

The photo highlights one of the school’s end products - a unique bedside table.

Swan Hill Special Developmental School

There’s more to a TIP grant than a handshake and a cheque. Our people have strong relationships within the education sector and, on school visits, see the benefit of TIP funding for grassroots school projects.
