It looks like Essex Heights Primary School - our 2022 People's Choice winner!

In 2022, 18 schools shared a Teaching Initiatives Program (TIP) funding pool of $32,552.

The 18 winning schools were invited to share their award-winning initiatives with their school communities with the chance of winning an additional $500 for their school project. The school with the most votes was named our People's Choice winner.

Run through social media channels, the Essex Heights community came out the winner with the most votes for their project. The school encouraged teachers, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and neighbors of students to vote for their Maths Garden. The message was pushed out in the school's weekly newsletter and on its social media pages. Teachers shared the TIP voting link with their personal networks in their bid to get their project the most votes.

As part of the People's Choice win, a teacher and children were invited to attend the Bank First AGM and for the 100-plus Members attending this annual event, the Essex Heights children were the highlight.

Partha told us that when out in the garden, he headed straight to the chess board for tournaments with kids from across the school.

Aaryan said he loved the garden because Maths is his favorite subject. Ethan can be found at the dartboard and Jorin loved the huge Snakes and Ladders game.

The Maths Garden was the brainchild of Essex Heights students who designed the garden with the goal of making mathematics more 'hands on'.

Partha, Aaryan, Ethan and Jorin have now moved onto secondary college, but the Maths Garden lives on at Essex Heights Primary School.
