We're changing how we think about the waste our school produces. By implementing consistent Eco Bins school-wide, we will create an impact that goes beyond just our time in primary school.
The entirety of our grant will be used to provide a set of bins for each of our classrooms, our staffroom and our front office.
Each set of bins will include 4x 25 Litre 'Eco Bins', one of each of the following: Landfill Waste, Mixed Recycling, Paper & Cardboard, and Organic Food Waste.
We have 26 classrooms, one staffroom and one front office, totalling 28 sets of Eco Bins (or 112 individual bins).
We expect a significant and measurable impact on our school's ability to manage our waste more consciously.
We currently have four student Sustainability leaders, a Green Team consisting of nearly 50 students, and one Teacher Sustainability Leader. The program will allow for very targeted learning around how to better manage our waste and will be a platform for larger change school-wide.
Separating our waste classroom by classroom to make a lasting impact. Each classroom to have its own set of bins for waste.
