Big Hill Primary School

Through the Reset Zone, Big Hill Primary School will address school needs by offering a comforting and safe environment for students through calming tools, mindfulness supports, interactive furnishings, sensory lighting and music.

The idea for the Reset Zone was formed after recognising the need for a space where the students could come and reset with nearby support, without feeling on display to passing classes. Teachers have spoken and toured with other schools who have implemented elements of this concept with whole classrooms repurposed targeting high energy students or an alternative space to take students requiring a break.

This project will support students by creating a zone for them to refocus and regulate their behaviour in a positive, supportive environment and reduce unplanned departures from classes and allow students to return to class in a more timely manner after a brief reset.
