Warrnambool College

Warrnambool College’s Surfing with Merri Program brings together students from Merri River School, a local specialist school for students with additional needs, for a rewarding and inclusive experience.

Each week, Warrnambool College students take on the role of mentor, supporting Merri Program students as they build confidence and have fun learning to surf. It’s about more than just catching waves, it’s about connection, inclusion, and creating a space where everyone feels supported and celebrated.

Along the way, students also gain their first aid qualifications, equipping them with job-ready, practical skills. The program has been running successfully for the past three years and continues to grow in impact and popularity.

Thanks to this grant, Warrnambool College will purchase a fleet of tandem bikes to create even more inclusive outdoor learning opportunities in the future.
